THE COSMOPOLITAN OF LAS VEGAS ANNOUNCES
NOVEMBER ENTERTAINMENT PERFORMANCES

LAS VEGAS – The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas continues its line-up of touring artists at its casino floor hot-spots Book & Stage and Bond with artist residencies through November. All performances are open to the public.

Book & Stage

A polished, masculine and comfortable setting, Book & Stage is a daytime live sports viewing lounge and by evening becomes a music performance-centric venue with popular acts.

The following acts will be playing at Book & Stage:

Grouplove

When the members of Grouplove met it was like a dream. The setting was a remote artist colony on the exotic, mysterious Greek island of Crete. Each member went to Greece for their own independent reasons but over time they gravitated towards each other and discovered the sound that unified them: a merging of richly narrated, intricate songs with anthemic classic pop production. On the surface the band’s vibe comes off as happy, the songs soar with a kind of shimmering, youthful exuberance. But just beneath that sunny sheen, there is a reservoir of longing and melancholy. The Grouplove signature is blending those two pillars of life: sorrow and joy.

Tuesday, November 1 – Wednesday, November 2 from 10:00PM – 11:00PM and 12:00AM – 1:00AM

JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound

Erupting with raw emotion, JC Brooks unleashes his soulful shouts and heart wrenching falsetto over the relentless rhythm of guitarist Billy Bungeroth, drummer Kevin Marks, and bassist Ben Taylor. The Uptown Sound is a force to be reckoned with, leading the Chicago Tribune to call them “the real deal” and MOJO Magazine identifying them as “one of the hottest US soul acts”, while the New York Times praised their “neo-soul glory” and The Onion’s AV Club declared their first album “relentlessly catchy”. It’s live, it’s compelling, it’s now, it’s theatrical.

Thursday, November 3 – Saturday, November 5 from 10:00PM – 11:00PM and 12:00AM – 1:00AM

Mates of State

Kori Gardner (keyboard/vocals) and Jason Hammel (drums/vocals) were both playing guitar and singing in the Kansas music metropolis of Lawrence before forming the Mates of State in 1997. You find that Kori is one of the best female singers in modern music (and Jason is also no slouch). You notice the effortless way their voices harmonize and volley back and forth, the movements within the song, the way they move from upbeat to pastoral so fluidly that you don’t perceive it happening. Their instruments and voices all move as one piece, inseparable. Through the years, the textures have become more intricate and deeper. They’ve begun throwing in the occasional trumpet or guitar, but it is still stunning how much they can do with just keyboards and drums. They move so far within the limitations of the two-piece format that you can’t even call it a limitation. It feels as natural as the standard rock-and-roll four-piece.

Wednesday, November 9 – Friday, November 11 from 10:00PM – 11:00PM and 12:00AM – 1:00AM

Bushwalla

Self-proclaimed as the Original Gangster from Cleveland, Bushwalla represents the eclectic talents of Billy “Bushwalla” Galewood. A native of Cleveland, he started performing musical theater at the age of 9. For the next 10 years, he crafted his performing skills as a professional clown while on stage with the Cleveland Opera, Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival, and the Cleveland Ballet. In 1995, Billy set out to New York City to study theater at the American Musical & Dramatic Academy. While in New York, he supported himself as a street performer incorporating such feats as juggling, magic, chair-balancing, and fire-breathing. Now after spending time in both Los Angeles and San Diego, Bushwalla is more than a one-man boy band. His sound is a unique blend of funk, rock, freestyle, acoustic hip-hop with a soul deeply rooted in authenticity and optimism. His writing talents came into being after notably co-writing Jason Mraz’s debut platinum album, Waiting For My Rocket to Come and sophomore release Mr. A-Z.

Inspired by artists who convey stories and emotions through music, such as Chopin, Pink Floyd, Vitalic, and Above & Beyond, D. So in 2000, Alex made the investment to become a deejay. He moved around a few times, but in 2006, smashBOX returned to the Vegas nightclub scene with his distinct pumping style of Tribal-Tech house. His goal was simply to re-educate the masses one music lover at a time.
